LOS ANGELES— Jessy Terrero, director of music videos for such artists as 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, Enrique Iglesias and Chris Brown, has signed with Original for exclusive representation in commercials. Terrero, who recently wrapped his latest feature, Freelancers, starring Robert De Niro, has directed ads campaigns for such brands as Reebok and the energy drink Street King. He is also the director of Soul Plane, starring Snoop Dog, Tom Arnold, Kevin Hart and DL Hughley, to name a few.

Terrero, who previously produced commercial projects through his company Terrero Films, said that he wanted to be affiliated with a production company of national stature that could generate more creative opportunities. “I want to be surrounded by a strong team,” he said. “With my company, I was too often acting as my own executive producer; I want to be at a place where I can focus on directing.”

Terrero directed a series of spots for Reebok and McGarryBowen featuring sports stars Manny Ramirez, Donovan McNabb and Winky Wright. Perhaps the most memorable ad in the series shows a bare-chested Allen Iverson sitting in a dressing room listening to music while graphics and kinetic camerawork highlight the numerous injuries he has suffered in his career as a “warrior” athlete. The director’s work for Street King also features celebrity talent—Mike Tyson, Deepak Chopra and Joan Rivers—in comic scenarios.

“Jessy is the full package,” said Original Partner and Executive Producer Joe Piccirillo. “He is a super talented director, he is great with talent and he has an amazing eye for visual storytelling as seen in his music videos. He also has a terrific sense of comedic timing reflected in the SK spots we just finished with him, as well as his first feature Soul Plane.”

Terrero began his career as an actor, appearing in such shows as Law & Order, Brooklyn South, The Sopranos and In Search of a Dream, the first Spanish-language SAG film. He was introduced to music videos through director Diane Martel and directed his first video in 2000. His credits include Candy Shop for 50 Cent, nominated for an MTV Music Video Award for Best Male Video and I Am Woman for Syleena Johnson, a nominee for a Billboard Magazine Video Music Award for Best New Adult Contemporary New Artist Clip, among many others. In addition to Soul Plane and Freelancers, he has directed the features, Brooklyn to Manhattan and Gun, as well as a documentary on pro skate boarder Stevie Williams.
