Writer, educator and
business leader recognized for his role in advancing DAM education.

founders of the annual DAMMYs, the first awards specifically recognizing
excellence and innovation in digital and media asset management technology,
today announces that David Diamond, director of global marketing at Picturepark
and author of DAM Survival Guide, is
the winner of its 2013 DAMMY-of-the-Year Award. Diamond is being recognized for
his role as an author, educator and business leader in the digital asset industry
who “exemplifies forward-thinking, leadership and innovation.” The award will
presented at a gala luncheon on October 8th as part of
Createasphere’s Digital
Asset Management Conference and Exhibition
in New York City.

“David has been a pioneer in DAM for more than 15 years, and
has helped to improve industry standards and practices through his writing and
his many educational initiatives,” said Createasphere president Kristin
Petrovich. “His DAM Survival Guide has
become an invaluable resource to vendors and their customers worldwide and
improved the DAM experience for everyone. We are very pleased to recognize his
contributions as the recipient of the 2013 DAMMY of the Year.” This year’s
competition attracted a record number of submissions for DAMMY-of-the-Year,
resulting in the most competitive field in the award’s 3-year history.
Diamond said that he hopes the award will inspire further
efforts toward knowledge sharing throughout the DAM industry. “I am very happy
to accept this honor in recognition of the importance of DAM education,”
Diamond observed. “Without quality DAM education materials, individuals and
businesses become confused and can be misled. I hope this award encourages
others in my field to try harder when it comes to the educational materials we
provide our community. The focus of a DAM software vendor should be leadership,
not lead generation.”

Diamond has worked in digital asset management since 1998.
He has served as director of global marketing for Picturepark, a Swiss DAM

California. He began his DAM career as a freelance writer. At Picturepark,
Diamond developed the DAM Guru Program, a free
service that connects members of the international DAM community and also helps

industry events worldwide.
In addition to DAMMY-of-the-Year, categories for the DAMMY
Awards include Best Storage, Archive, and or Preservation Solution; Best

Acquisition of Content; Best Example of Asset & Media Repurposing; and Best
