The Governor’s and
Service Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented with SOC’s Cammy Award on
Saturday February 6th, 2016 at Paramount Studios.  The black tie event serves as a fundraiser
for the Society’s charity, The Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los
Angeles.
Doering is
retiring from the International Cinematographers Guild after 30 years. He was
succeeded by Rebecca Rhine. He joined ICG as a business representative in 1985
and oversaw contract negotiations and immigration issues. He was appointed
National Executive Director in 1993. The ICG recently established the Bruce C.
Doering Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions advocating
policies and legislation favorable to labor workers.
Under Manios’
leadership, Century Precision Optics developed innovative periscopes, low-angle
prisms, video lens accessories and custom lens conversions widely used in
motion picture and television production. In 1992, he received a Technical
Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his
work in adapting zoom lenses for motion picture use. He also developed
specialty lenses and optical devices used by the military and the auto
industry.
